In a video uploaded by South China Morning Post, it shows a confrontation between China’s policemen and an elderly woman inside a bus surrounded by passengers wearing masks.
Footage shows the bare-faced woman sitting on the bus surrounding by masked passengers in Pingdinghan. She appears to ignore the officer who is telling her off and starts rummaging through her bag as he points his finger at her.
Officers appear and offers her a mask but she refuses to look at them even as he steps near her and pokes the mask in her face. The woman, who is wearing a pink hat and puffer coat, appears unphased and continues about her business
She rummages around in her rucksack as the officer continues to rant. She finally acknowledges he is thereby shaking her head but according to the officers she refused to accept the mask.
The death toll of a coronavirus outbreak sweeping China has reached at least 213, with more than 9,700 people infected as of early Thursday. Cases have spread to every province and region in China as well at least 19 other countries.
The disease is spread by particles from coughs and sneezes and can take up to 14 days to develop. Health officials highly recommended everyone to wear face masks when going out and avoid mutual contacts in public places.
