Dogs Left Behind In Taal Volcano Island Afraid, Hostile To Rescue Ops

TAAL VOLCANO – The dogs that were left behind on Taal Volcano island have become traumatized and hostile to rescuers.

This brought dog rescuers a herd time recovering the said dogs who were left on the island after the volcano eruption.

According to GMA News, the resue groups were from Orange Family Shelter, Tails for Freedom and Bayanihan for Furbabies who were refferred to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) by GMA’s 24 Oras reporter China Gaston. The dogs, however, would not go near the rescuers.

Clarizza Lagmay from the Orange Family Shelter that they are now super elusive and traumatized. The rescuers then decided to leave food for them.

Lt. Kirk Acdal of the PCG CGK9 Force said that it is less expected that the dogs would approach them and recommended to put a trap to capture them without harming them.

Lagmay also said that they considered using tranquilizers in order to keep dogs calm and put them to sleep before recovering them.

As per the report, the rescuers saw a black dog swimming towards them, prompting users to use a trap to lure it into the cage.

The dog may have been traumatized and they had to calm him down, feed and train him to adapt to its new environment.

There are also cows and pigs who were left behind that are roaming around the island. The government said that they are planning to rescue them as well.

Taal Volacno is still under Alert Level 3.
