Here’s what Michelle Dee said about being tagged as the “next Catriona”
Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee reacted to being tagged as the “next Catriona” that refers to Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
After competing for the Miss World pageant and ending up at the Top 12, several pageant fans are pitching her to be the next Miss Universe Philippines. Netizens have been persuading her to join this year’s local pageant again.
During an interview with GMA Entertainment, Michelle was asked to react to people’s perception that she can be the next Catriona. “I don’t really believe in being the next anyone. You can only be an upgraded version of yourself,” the Filipina beauty queen answered.
She added, “People were saying can you be the next Melanie Marquez? And I said I don’t want to be the next Melanie Marquez, I want to be Michelle Dee.” The daughter of Melanie stressed out that if she will entertain the thought of joining MUP, it is not because of a target to be like Catriona.
When asked is she already decided to join another pageant this year, particularly the Miss Universe Philippines 2020, Michelle said that it is still under consideration. “I’ve already sacrificed so much of my life with Miss World so this year is kind of a year of discovery on other options of my life, things that I’m passionate about, things I want to focus on,” she shared.
The Filipina beauty queen has not given the press a direct answer to this even though pageant fans are so eager to persuade her. “It’s really just about self-discovery and it’s still an open discussion but walang siguradong sagot,” the safe answer that Michelle Dee shared during the interview.
