Ambush In Zamboanga Del Sur Left With 2 Wounded, 2 Unscathed

ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR – Two people were injured with two more left unscathed in an ambush in Zamboanga Del Sur province on January 20 (Monday).

According to SunStar, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer Police Major Helen Galvez said that the incident occurred around 3:40 PM, Monday along the national highway in the Nangka village, Dinas town.

The victims are identified as Abdul Gumikas Kudarat,aged 53 and a carpenter; and Armida Bugat Polo, aged 30 and a housewife. The unscathed were Saud Ngapas Polo, aged 25 and a fish merchant and Sittie Ayersha Polo, aged 1 year.

Galvez added that investigation reports showed that the victims were on a Sports Utility Vehicle traveling to the town of Lapuyan from Dinas town when they were ambushed by unidentified gunmen.

As per the report, she said that the gunmen fled aboard a white van with no registered plate toward the town of San Miguel.

Galvez added that the police in Dinas are currently eyeing that the motive for the crime might possibly be a personal grudge towards the victims.
