Taal Volcano Evacuees Death Toll Rose Up To Four

TAAL VOLCANO – The death toll on residents who evacuated due to the eruption of Taal Volcano have rose up to four.

According to GMA News, two more evacuees have died, which adds up to a total of four evacuees dead.

In elaboration, one of them, who is from Cuenca, Batangas died in a vehicular accident in Quezon province. Identified as Larry Montalvo, he was aboard a motorcycle with his wife and grandchild when they collided on a bus.

The driver of the bus is now in police custody and has agreed to provide aid to the victim’s family.

Two of these fatalities, identified as Benny Mendoza and Felina de Roxas, died due to cardiac-related problems.

Mendoza died in an evacuation center in Batangas due to cardiac arrest; while De Roxas, aged 57 years, died last Saturday due to a heart attack.

As per the report, Zenaida Ortilla , aged 72 from the town of Talisay, Batangas, died early Monday morning. Ortilla, as a diabetic and a stroke patient, had her condition worsened due to the living condition in the evacuation center. One of Ortilla’s relatives said:

“Siyempre siksikan. Dapat maluwag. Malalanghap mo iba ibang amoy. Nai-stress, nakadagdag sa kalagayan rin ang usap-usap sa bulkan,”

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) recorded about 112,000 evacuees who are from the provinces of Batangas, Quezon, Laguna, and Cavite. They are currently taking shelter in 416 evacuation centers.
