Actress-politician Vilma Santos, the incumbent 6th District Representative of Lipa City in Batangas, was not seen with her constituents during the Taal eruption due to this reason.

However, many noticed the absence of the Congresswoman during this hard time for her constituents. Based on the article from Pilipino Star Ngayon, Ate Vi explained her absence.

The Star for all Season said that they were in the summer capital of the Philippines. “Sa totoo lang nasa Baguio kami, kasi nag-celebrate kami ng birthday ni Sen. Ralph (Recto) doon. Tamang-tama, January 11, 12 pumutok ang Taal Volcano. So, umuwi rin kami right away,” she said.

She added that when the knew about what happened, they were monitoring. Ate Vi also said that there were people under her command who did what was needed to do. “Siyempre, may mga tao rin kami, mga staff na yung emergency time na kailangang-kailangan muna…yung mga pagkain, kung ano muna yung mga kailangan yun muna  ang binigyan natin ng prayoridad,” the actress-politician explained.

For Vilma Santos, there is no need for credit-grabbing since she is administrating the 6th District of Lipa City. She said that the main command must begin from Gov. Dodo Mandanas and Vice Gov. Mark Leviste. In addition, the Congresswoman said that the Governor and Vice Governor are always working to serve the Batanguenos.

Ate Vi already visited the evacuation centers and they provided food and necessities for the evacuees. Based on the article, they are already making plans on how the province will recover from this calamity.
