Sharon Cuneta asked President Duterte to reconsider the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN
Megastar Sharon Cuneta asked President Rodrigo Duterte to reconsider his decision regarding the ABS-CBN franchise renewal.
Recalling, before 2019 ended, the President reiterated his stand regarding the said issue. He even suggested the management to just sell the network.
From the first time when the Chief Executive expressed his side on the franchise renewal, several celebrities from the Kapamilya network have been hoping that he would change his mind. The recent one who asked the President to reconsider his decision is the Megastar.
Based on the article from PEP, Sharon Cuneta expressed her plea to President Rodrigo Duterte during her recent solo media conference after contract signing with the Kapamilya network.
“So I’ll just say this before saying goodbye—I pray that our dear President reconsiders his decision about ABS-CBN. Not just because I just renewed, I can always find a job. But everybody I grew up with here who have remained loyal to the station—and have grown up here, have learned from the school of hard rocks here, have become family, good friends—will lose almost everything they’ve built over the years,” she said.
She also hopes that it will not reach to the point will be under a new management. “So, I hope in my heart that our dear President reconsiders the thousands and thousands of Pinoys who have grown up here, learned the ropes here, that includes me,” the singer-actress said.
Meanwhile, the Megastar reminisced her fondest memories when she was just starting in ABS-CBN. That was 31 years ago. She shared that her dressing room was the office of network’s executive Charo Santos “which was already dilapidated and falling down before the renovations.”
Sharon is happy to witnessed how the network grew over time along with the people working under its roof, based on the article. “I am proudest of all, kasi lumaki na ako dito,” she said.
