The instant meal dubbed as “Pack of Hope” was developed by the Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI), which is now pushing to further expand it for possible market production, a report said.

Packed in stand-up retort pouches, RTE Arroz Caldo is handy and can be eaten without water or drinkables, and is good for consumption for one year. It can be eaten without cooking unlike instant noodles and canned food that requires water and a heat source to be cooked.

Currently, this product is produced and sold by a licensed producer of ITDI since 2015, ITDI-Technological Services Division and Kai-Anya Food, Inc., to the Department of Social Welfare Development which distributes it as emergency relief goods for victims of disasters/calamities in the country.
