According to SunStar, the fatality has been identified as Jeralyn Casipong, aged 17 years, of Sitio Cambogui-ot at Barangay Camindangan in the aforementioned city.

In a statement from Dionelo Bogtae, head of the Sipalay Emergency Assistance and Rescue Services, two fishermen saw Casipong’s body stuck at the cemented base of the Campisang Bridge.

Upon retrieving the body, she was immediately identified as the teenager who has been missing for three days. Bogtae added that the body was already bloated and was found half-naked.

Police investigation reports state that Casipong went to Barangay Mambaroto to visit a relative there on December 31 (Tuesday). She had a drinking session with her friends and then asked permission to leave to buy something.

Bogtae said that she failed to return but relatives thought she went back to her home. No injuries was seen in the body of the victim.

As per the report, Bogtae however said that she was seemingly hidden intentionally, adding that someone might have raped her, since all her undergarments were removed and her t-shirt was left.

“It is less possible that she drowned alone since the water level at the river during that time was low,”

The autopsy result to determine the cause of her death has yet to be released. Bogtae added that those who had a drinking session with the victim were invited to the police station for investigation.
