Negros Occidental: Passengers, Rolling Cargoes Stranded

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – As of 6 PM on Monday (December 23), about 278 passengers and 73 cargoes are stranded in Negros Occidental.

Based on a report from Inquirer’s Cebu Daily News, Lieutenant Commander Jansen Benjamin, Coastguard Commander based in the aforementioned province, 50 passengers are stranded in Bacolod City, 148 in Escalante City, and 80 in San Carlos City.

He further added that a total of 73 rolling cargoes stranded in various ports of Western Negros, with 50 in Bacolod, 42 in Escalante, and 11 in San Carlos City.

Meanwhile in the Central Visayas region, specifically in Cebu and Bohol, about 2,000 passengers have been stranded due to the now severe tropical storm Ursula (Internationally called Phanfone).

It was last seen at about 315 kilometers east of the town of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 was raised over Cebu and Bohol, as well as Sorsogon, Masbae, Ticao Island, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, and Siargao.

Based on the report, all coast guard station units should strictly implement the suspension of vessel trips, according to Encina.
