According to Cebu Daily News, the Central Visayas branch of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will be accepting the applications for vehicles who want to transport passengers outside their usual routes during holiday season.

Board regional director Eduardo Montealto Jr.said that this is in order to make sure that all passengers will be accomodated, especially those who will travel to areas or routes that might face bus shortage during the season.

He added that they will continue issuing special permits up to January 4, 2020 (Saturday).

The applicants simply have to pay ₱350 for the special permit, which is good for three days.

Montealto said, however, that unlike holidays such as November 1 and 2, only a few bus companies usually apply for special permits during this season. This was based from the board’s past experiences.

As for the bus who will be caught travelling outside their routes without the said permits, they will be charged with a fine of about ₱1 million.

Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) are also allowed to apply the said permits but only for family use and not for public transport, which will cost at about ₱170.

Based on the report, Montealto also warned bus drivers to avoid overloading to ensure the safety of the passengers.
