Miss Universe Laos’s National Costume Pay Homage To Her Country’s National Symbol
MISS UNIVERSE – The national costume of Miss Universe Laos 2019, Vichitta Phonevilay, paid homage to her country’s national symbol.
The 68th edition of the Miss Universe 2019 pageant will be held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The coronation night will be on December 8 (December 9 in the Philippines).
Before the finals, the preliminary and the national costume will happen first. It will be hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. It streams live on December 6 at 8 pm ET.

In the national costume competition, the candidates to honor and celebrate their countries. Based on a report from Inquirer, Laos’ representative for Miss Universe pageant, Vichitta Phonevilay paid homage to her country’s national symbol.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Miss Laos’ national costume was designed by Khamphee Arangkan. He was also the one who designed the national costume of their candidate. Laos won the Best National Costume Competition last year.

This year, Arangkan based his design on the Indian elephant, the national animal of their country. He said these gigantic animals were kind, strong, and magnificent creatures. He said the virtues of these animals were also found in the people of Laos.
“In our lifetimes, some of us may never encounter some of the wonders of the world, such as the marvelous rainforests or the majestic Lao elephant… Future generations may never have the opportunity to see these marvels. Like the rainforests, our elephants are sadly disappearing at a rapid rate due to the ravages of mankind…”
“Even if we have never been to the Amazon, or met an elephant up close, we can still feel the pain of losing nature to the devastation of wildfire and climate change… We must unite together, no matter what country we are from, to help our Earth. Our animals and forests have no voices, so we must campaign together and speak out to protect and preserve them,” he added.

According to the report, Miss Laos said she’s enjoys doing pageant activities with her fellow contestants. She said she will give her best to promote her country and their culture to the world.
