8-year-old Kid of Laguna Bags Gold from International Math Competition in Vietnam

An 8-year-old grade 3 kid from Laguna wins gold in an international math competition in Vietnam, bringing honor to the country.

Zac Harvey Gordula is only eight years old but has many honors placed on his name, parents, and the school he attends. She is a Math wizard from Lopez Elementary School in Los Baños, Laguna.

Zac, a Grade 3 student and math wizard from Lopez Elementary School won two gold medals for scoring the highest at the individual and team categories of the 2019 Singa or the Singapore Math Global Team Competition held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from November 22 to 26.

In the individual category, Zac earned top spot for Grade 3 level while in the group category the team also won by Zac. He joined the group with two other Math wizards from Indonesia and Vietnam.

Aside from the two gold medals he won for the individual and team contests, He also won the trophy for being the overall runner-up from the Grade 3 students who participated in the global competition.

One of the goals of the Singa competition is to foster strong teamwork and collaboration among Math wizards by providing a high level of competition platform focused on Math skills. The organizers describe the event as a” unique new math competition with ambitious and important goals”.

It turned out that this is not the first time that Zac won in an international math competition. In July 2019 he also won gold and two bronze medals from the 5th Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge held in Singapore.
