Quadrilateral Shapes – Meaning And The Different Types
QUADRILATERAL SHAPES – In this topic, we will now know and identify the meaning of quadrilateral shapes and its different types.
Meaning
According to Mathsteacher, a quadrilateral is a closed plane bounded by four segments. To put it simply, it is any shape with four sides.
Types
Here are the following six types of quadrilaterals:
- Rectangle
- A rectangle is a quadrilateral that has two pairs of equal and parallel opposite sides, where one pair is shorter than the other. It is also equiangular since all angles are 90 degrees.
- Square
- An square is an equiagular quadrilateral where all sides are of equal length and are parallel to its opposite side.
- Parallelogram
- A parallelogram is a quadrilateral where opposite sides are parallel and equal and has two pairs of equal and opposite angles.
- Rhombus
- A rhombus is a quadrilateral similar to a square since all sides are equal and all opposite sides are parallel.
- Trapezium
- A trapezium is a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel opposite sides. Usually, its non-parallel sides are equal in length and angle measure.
