Ramon is the 18th storm within the year. It is also expected to hit the neighboring Isabela province.

Due to the rains brought by the low-pressure area last week in Cagayan left at least 3 people dead according to officials. They also feared that the saturated soil makes their area easily flooded.

Adding to this, the overflowing water from Magat Damn goes straight to the Cagayan River. This could trigger massive floods.

Along with it, Cagayan also is a recipient of floodwaters from the neighboring Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya provinces.

During an interview with DZMM, Governor Manuel Mamba talked about their preparations for the incoming cyclone. He said that they are already experiencing the rain and cold.

The Governor added that Togigarao had also recently experienced floodings because of the swelling of the Cagayan River.

Because of the continuous rains, he said that the soil became highly saturated. Making it susceptible to flooding.

However, he added that, in the northern parts of Cagayan, heavy rains poured on the area. This caused heavy flooding and left the towns underwater for almost five days.

Although there have not been any pre-emptive evacuations, the Governor said that they are still on red alert. Along with this, rescue equipment and relief goods were already on standby.

The Governor stated that there are hazard-prone areas susceptible to landslides and floodings. However, there still isn’t a warning to evacuate.

He also added that they would give the residents updates immediately regarding the situation of the cyclone.
