The much-awaited festival, aka the Festival of Festivals is one of the most awaited festivals in Negros Oriental and is usually held in the city of Dumaguete, the capital of the province. It is almost the counterpart of Negros Occidental’s Panaad Festival.

According to Inquirer’s Cebu Daily News, the following groups who compete in the festival’s Showdown at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex are the following:

  • Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete City
  • Tapasayaw Festival of Bais City
  • Yamog Festival of Pamplona
  • Pakol Festival of Sta Catalina
  • Sinulog Festival of Tanjay
  • Kinaiyahan festival of Dauin
  • Sandugo Festival, barangay category of Dumaguete City

Sandurot symbolizes the friendly and welcoming community of Dumaguete as the name says, which means to “come together in friendship and harmony.

For Tapsayaw, it showcased the tradition and culture of Bais when it comes to harvesting sugarcane. Bais is said to be the place where you find one of the best dried fishes you will ever taste, according to its western counterparts.

For Pamplona, Yamog shows the good effects of yamog or dew to the coffee plant, hence, prompts farmers to plant coffee beans.

Based on the report, in Tanjay, Sinulog shows how the Christian residents of the city won over the invading Moors. Dauin’s Kinaiyahan fixates on the city’s harvest season and its beautiful nature.

Lastly, Dumaguete’s Sandugo shows how villagers defend their clam industry and livelihood against marauders.
