URANUS – In this topic, we will now know things about the seventh planet in the solar system the tilted planet Uranus.
This blue-green planet is named after the Greek sky deity Ouranous. Hence, the only planet named after a Greek god.
According to Space, its blue-green color is caused by the methane in the atmosphere, which is mostly made of hydrogen and helium. The atmosphere of this planet is by far the coldest in the solar system.
It is also known as an ice giant due to the 80% of its mass which is made of a mix of water, methane and ammonia ice.
One of its distinguishing feature is its orbit since the planet is tilted to the side that it goes around the sun on its side. Because of the tilt, the planet has extreme seasons that last for about 20 years.
Another feature of the planet is that it rains diamonds, which are thought to sunk thousands of miles below the surface of theplanet, as well as Neptune.
Like Saturn, the planet also has two sets of rings. Uranus also has 27 known moons, with the largets being Oberon and Titania.
