Masskara Festival Approaches, BTAO To Implement Road Closure

MASSKARA FESTIVAL – As the 40th Masskara Festival fast approaches, the Bacolod City Authority Office will start a road closure.

The much awaited festival in the “City of Smiles” Bacolod City, Negros Occidental will start at October 7 (Monday) and will end in October 27 (Sunday). With this, the Bacolod City Authority Office (BTAO) will enact a rod closure for this iconic event.

According to SunStar, BTAO Police Lieutenant Colonel Luisito Acebuche said that the closure will start from the streets of Rizal-Gatuslao up to the streets of Gonzaga-San Juan from 4PM up to 4AM of the following day.

About 70 enforcers will be deployed in order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, Acebuche said. He added that there will be a parking spot at the back of the Bacolod Public Plaza at the festival opening.

As per the report, for the Southbound Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) from Araneta Street, they will detour to the following routes:

  1. right to Roxas Street
  2. right to Lacson Street
  3. right to Magsaysay street
  4. left turn to Araneta up to the destination.

Southboud PUV from Hernaez Avenue will take the following routes:

  1. right to Gatuslao Street
  2. from Brgy. Taculing turn left to Hernaez Street
  3. right to Luzuriaga Street
  4. right to Mabini Street
  5. left to Margarita Street
  6. left to Lopez-Jaena Street
  7. right to Hernaez Street up to point of destination

For Northbound PUVs, they will take the following route from their point of origin:

  1. right to Burgos Street
  2. left to Palanca Street
  3. left to Luzuriaga Street
  4. right to Alunan Extension
  5. right to Capitana Dicag Road
  6. left to Roxas Street
  7. left to Lacson Street
  8. right to Lizares Street up to Hernaez Street
  9. left up to Locsin Street
  10. left to Rizal Street
  11. right to Gatuslao Street
  12. right to North Capitol Road
  13. left to Aguinaldo Street
  14. right to BS Aquino Drive
  15. left to Lacson Street up to the point of destination

For Eastbound PUVs, they will take the following route from the point of origin via Burgos Street:

  1. left to Lacson Street
  2. right to Gonzaga Street
  3. right to Locsin Street and Galo Street
  4. left to BBB Street
  5. right to Burgos Street up to the point of destination

The road closure will be enacted at the Fererro Street in the Vendors Plaza. Another road closure will also implemented at Tourism Street along Lacson Street and a one-way traffic scheme at Gatuslao and Aguinaldo streets on October 25 to 27, Acebuche said.

Villa Angela and Helvetia Streets will also have a one-way traffic scheme during the festival with 84 deployed enforcers. A truck ban will be enacted at the Circumferential Road on the same date with 390 deployed officers.
