What Are The Different Types Of Mirrors? Meanings And More
TYPES OF MIRRORS – In this topic, we will now know and discuss the different types of mirrors. Let us first know what a mirror is.
Mirror
It is an object that reflects light in a way that it preserves many or most detailed characteristics of the light it reflected.
- Plane Mirrors
- The most common mirrors we see in our houses or buildings. These have a reflective surface that are flat or planar, hence, the name. There are rare variations of plane mirrors which are made slightly curved.
- Spherical Mirrors
- Convex Mirrors
- These are bulged outward and reflects at a wider angle. Thus, this creates a distortion where it appears smaller than its actual size. Safety mirrors are an example of convex mirrors.
- Concave Mirrors
- Unlike convex, this curve inward like a spoon. Convex mirrors reverses the image when you look at a distance. It can only be flipped once you look closer
- Convex Mirrors
- One-Way or Two-Way Mirrors
- These mirrors have surfaces that are coated so that when it is absorbed by the light and goes behind a dark space, you can see lighted room but not outside of it.
- Acoustic Mirrors
- Huge concrete mirrors that are made to reflect sound instead of light.
- Non-Reversing Mirror
- AKA flip mirrors, it has two more mirrors that are placed together at a 90 degree angle.
