13 Dead Piglets Were Found In Irrigations Canals In Malolos, Bulacan

MALOSLOS, BULACAN – Despite the continuous efforts to fight off the African swine fever outbreak in the Philippines, dead piglets were found in irrigation Canals in Malolos, Bulacan.

13 little piggies that never went home were discovered by residents of Brgy. Tikay. They stated that they found the piglets at around 7 AM.

Barangay Officials also stated that there were even newborn piglets in found. They added that others were still inside the placenta.

Aside from this, pig entrails were also discovered in the canal. Along with this, a foul odor emanated from the scene said residents.

A barangay Tikay kagawad, Roberto Hernandez had also voiced his concern in the issue. He stated that there were similar reports before.

Hernandez said that they had the issue before where they would find dead pigs. However, he added that it used to be just one at a time.

He then stated that right now the issue is just outrageous. Saying that the amount of dumped dead pigs is just too much.

The barangay kagawad added that they would find those responsible for the dumping of dead animals. Meanwhile, the bloated carcasses were removed one at a time and placed in sacks.

The local government then planned to bury those dead animals. This would prevent the spread of diseases within the community.

According to GMA, Barangay Tikay is just one kilometer away from Barangay Pritil, Bulacan. This place is believed to be ground zero for the African Swine Fever.

In regards to this, Barangay Pritil has already been put into quarantine. Officials had also said that an investigation of backyard piggeries will be conducted.
