Travelers shared their terrifying stories after the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Abbotsford International Airport. A Twitter user behind @7REVOLUTION shared the actual footage taken from the plane window showing the engine on fire.

According to the report, several passengers began to pen their final messages to their families and friend, believing they wouldn’t survive the accident. Airport officials said a flock of geese was vacuumed into the engine, causing it to burn.

A Facebook netizen named Donna-Lee Rayner took to the social media to express about the nightmare flight. She said, “Take off happens and all of the sudden this loud thud thud thud thud happens … smoke in the cabin and the smell of burning. I’m surprisingly calm but yet curios. Start my goodbye messages in case my phone is recovered after we crash.”

A netizen who appears to be living near the airport responded to her post, writing: “The burning wasn’t just the geese. You flew over my house and there were huge flames shooting out from the plane every time that there was an explosion and there were several explosions. I assume now that it was the plane backfiring.”
