The Department of Health earlier urged the public to prepare and cook pork thoroughly due to the confirmed arrival of the African Swine Fever (ASF) inside the country.

The agency further advised pig owners to refrain from feeding uncooked products to their hogs and to monitor them in order to isolate sick ones from the healthy hogs.

The Agriculture department recently disclosed that they are currently observing areas where hogs are possibly infected by ASF.

According to a report in ABS-CBN News. Agri secretary William Dar said that the pigs from a backyard farm in the town of Guiguinto could have been transported to other areas.

He added that out of 20 samples from tests conducted by the United Kingdom, 14 of them were confirmed positive for ASF.

The officials gathered at about 7.4K pigs that are in the 1K radius for the farms in lieu of reports of increasing hog deaths in that area last month.

Dar further added that they are currently surveying out where the hogs have been transported or redeployed from Guiguinto. He added that these areas where hog deaths mostly occur are where they are currently observing as of now.

As per the report, echoing the words from the health department, Dar said that pork is safe to eat as long as it has the mark of the National Meat Inspection Commission, further urging the public against taking pork products from countries with ASF.
