MMDA To Prohibit One-Sided Parking On Streets Without Ordinance

MMDA – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that they will ban one-sided parking without the city council ordinance.

According to a report in ABS-CBN, this is in the middle of a large-scale clearing operations to clear all buildings or structures that obstructs the streets.

MMDA Command Center Chief Bong Nebrija said that one of the areas that implements one-sided parking is the Barangay Bagong Lipunan in Quezon City.

This is in contrast to the MMDA’s implementation to prohibit vehicles from parking at the streets as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Nebrija added that the said barangay has no power to have a one-sided parking unless they show an ordinance that is approved by the city council for the overall city traffic management plan.

He further added that the officials there has to resolve it among themselves, adding that the MMDA cannot do anything if they do have the ordinance.

As per the report, the barangay and city officials have until September 27 to clear the streets. which was already ordered by Interior and Local Governmnent secretary Eduardo Año. Otherwise, they will be suspended.
