1. Bachata

A type of dance which originates from the Dominican Republic. Its name came from the Bachata, which is a guitae music. This Latin dance focuses more on moving the body with style rather than simple back and forth steps.

2. Cha Cha Cha

Also known as Cha Cha, it is a Cuban dance similar to Mambo but unlike Mambo, this dance adds a quick set of three steps. It got its name from those quick three steps when dancers count them as “cha-cha-cha”.

Another Cuban dance like the Cha Cha Cha. It’s unique move is the 3-peat step moving forward, then backwards while it shifting its weight from one foot to another. It’s unique style is the hip-swaying action due to the weight shift.

4. Merengue

Another dance from the Dominican Republic. It is known officially as the “National Dance of the Dominican Republic” and is easy to learn, thus, a good choice for beginners to start practicing Latin dances.

A Cuban dance which is made up of two quick steps and a slow third step which takes two beats to execute. Usually, when practicing this type of dance, performers dance this in a box pattern.
