Meet the Fantasy Coffin Maker in Ghana

FANTASY COFFIN – Meet the legendary fantasy coffin artist in Ghana who could create coffins in the shape of a lizard.

All of us will surely end up lying in a coffin or other interment method and will be buried in a pit or trench forever. The family of the deceased will place personal items and flowers in it.

Nowadays, some people have already planned or chosen a design for their coffins. They wanted to see where they will be lying when they’re dead and how his/her burial will look like.

The people who are obsessed with these things surely need to meet the coffin maker in Ghana named Paa Joe. Based on a report from Reuters, the man has been making caskets since 1962.

Paa Joe is very famous in their place for his unique and artistic way of making coffins. His designs could be furniture in our houses. In fact, he’s considered one of the most important coffin artists of his generation.

According to the report, for the past 15 years, Paa Joe changed his style of making coffins and he called it “fantasy coffin” since it was too far from ordinary. He explained that his latest designs for his caskets were based on the life story of the deceased.

If the deceased person was a pilot, he will make an airplane casket for him. In that way, people would know what the deceased did with their lives.

Some may label Paa Joe as a carpenter, but he has always considered himself as an artist who makes beautiful things with wood. Reuters shared a video clip of some of his creation. The coffin artist made a human-sized fish, eagle, elephant, rooster, and lizard.

Based on the report, the 72-year-old artists’ coffins were exhibited in galleries around the globe. Some of his creations were even bought by US presidents.
