Barangay Captain Gives Rewards Rice To Residents Who Could Present 200 Dead Mosquitoes

BARANGAY CAPTAIN – The Barangay captain in Mariveles, Bataan rewards a kilo of rice to residents who could present 200 dead mosquitoes.

The Department of Health (DOH) declared a national dengue alert earlier this month. Some doctors and patients call for the return of the dengue vaccine “dengvaxia.”

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said he’s open to making the vaccine available in the market to address the dengue crisis in the country. Hundreds of patients have died nationwide due to dengue.

In a previous article, a Barangay captain in Old Balara, Quezon City released 1000 bullfrogs in esteros to curb the breeding of these deadly mosquitoes. The Barangay captain received a lot of praise from the netizens.

Recently, CNN shared another barangay captain who made efforts to stop the spread of dengue in their barangay on their Facebook Page. His unique anti-dengue campaign elicited comments from the online community.

Based on the caption of the post, the Barangay captain in Mariveles, Bataan thought of giving a kilo of rice as rewards to residents who could show a plate with 200 killed mosquitoes in their barangay hall. The residents put used oil on plates to trap the mosquitoes.

The residents in Brgy. Mariveles just have to bring their plates with dead mosquitoes in it and exchange it with a kilo of rice. Lots of people will surely participate in this campaign.
