Crocodile in Balabac, Palawan Saw 10-Year-Old Boy As Prey
CROCODILE ATTACK – Some of the 10-year-old boy’s body parts were found nearby their house after a crocodile attack in Balabac, Palawan.
Crocodiles are considered one of the most dangerous animals in the world. This kind of species has slaughtered thousands of people each year. Most of their victims were living near their sanctuaries.
The largest crocodile, Lolong, in the world was found in the Philippines. The crocodile hunters in Palawan were the ones who captured the huge reptile. In 2013, Lolong died due to pneumonia and cardiac arrest.
There are still lots of wild crocodiles in Palawan. The environmental authorities of the Philippines capture these animals to stop it from reaching residential areas. However, the people who live in houses sitting on the water are not safe from these deadly animals.
Based on a report from GMA News, a young boy in Balabac, Palawan was slain by a crocodile. His family was left wondering where he went since he was just asked to buy sugar and coffee from a store.
The authorities said the incident happened on Sunday, August 10 around 6 a.m. The 10-year-old boy was about to climb in their house when the reptile attacked him.
On Monday, some of his body parts were found in the area. Police and the coast guards of the area are continuing their retrieval operation.
According to the report, the spokesperson of Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), Jovic Fabello, said the area was a frequent spot for human-crocodile conflict.
“May ano talaga diyan. Madalas din diyan ‘yung mga human-crocodile conflict na tinatawag,” he said.
