Also known as KBr (K for Potassium, Br for Bromide), it is a salt that is widely used as an anticonvulsant (a drug used as a mood stabilizer to treat epilepsy, seizures, bipolarity and borderline personality disorder) and a sedative (a tranquiliser or a drug that induces sedation by means of reducing irritability or excitement) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
KBr is also utilized as a veterinary drug, specifically, an antiepilieptic cure for dogs. It is usually in the form of a white crystalline powder and is soluble in water but not in acetonitrile (CH3CN).
