Doctors Find 526 Teeth in 7-Year-Old Boy’s Mouth

Doctors Extract 526 Teeth in Young Boy’s Mouth

DOCTORS – The doctors in India removed 526 teeth in a 7-year-old boy’s mouth. They x-rayed his mouth and found a sac embedded in his lower jaw.

Normally, children lose all their baby teeth at the age of 6 to 12 years old. Dentist suggests parents bring their children for check-ups every 6-12 months to prevent their kids from having a painful toothache.

However, families who live in rural areas were not able to ensure that their child will have healthy teeth since they’re too far away from the clinics.

Based on a report from CNN, a 7-year-old boy from India have been complaining to his parents about his jaw pain. When he was finally admitted to the Southern City of Chennai, dentists found hundreds of extra teeth in his mouth.

The head of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, Dr. Prathiba Ramani, said the x-ray result showed that a sac was inserted in the kid’s lower jaw and it’s stuffed with “abnormal teeth.”

According to the report, the doctors removed the teeth last month and decided to examine all the teeth that were pulled out from his mouth. The doctors spent 4 to 5 hours to completely empty the sac.

“There were a total of 526 teeth ranging from 0.1 millimeters (.004 inches) to 15 millimeters (0.6 inches). Even the smallest piece had a crown, root and enamel coat indicating it was a tooth,” Ramani said.
