Queen Elizabeth II Honors Pinoy Driver of UK Envoy to the Philippines
QUEEN ELIZABETH II – Filipino driver Roland Quitevis was awarded the British Empire Medal by Queen Elizabeth II for his long years of service.
Most of the time we receive gifts during Christmas, birthdays, or graduations. And of these generous people are our parents, relatives, and friends.
But ever dream of receiving a gift or recognition from a very respected, known, and powerful person in the world? Like a queen?
Recently, a Filipino driver named Roland Quitevis received a medal from Queen Elizabeth II for his long service at the British Embassy.
The news was posted on the Facebook Page of British Embassy Manila.
British Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce gave the British Empire Medal to Roland Quitevis for his 33-years of service at the embassy.
“Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II has honoured Mr Roland Quitevis with the British Empire Medal for his services to UK-Philippine Relation…”
“This is a thoroughly well-deserved recognition of Roland’s long service at the Embassy, mostly spent as the Ambassador’s driver.”
In the same FB post, the Filipino driver at the British embassy recounted his experience during his long service at the British embassy.
Quitevis said he met Prince Andrew, Prince Charles, Duke of New York, and two visits by Princess Anne.
“In fact, during the most recent visit of Princess Anne to the country, she commented that I was very young when she first came to Manila and visited the indigenous community in Clark in the aftermath of the 1991 Mount Pinatubo volcanic eruption,” he added.
Roland Quitevis also shared all the training he’s been through because he’s required to learn some skills to be able to protect the prominent people he drives.
