When buying a car, it is very important that you know more about it to keep it properly maintained and functioning properly. There are so much to learn about keeping a car, from cleaning to regular oil changes.

Cars also come with symbols that represent as indicators when something might be wrong with your car. For instance, the fuel pump symbol will light up when you’re running low on fuel.

But other than fuel, there are a lot of other symbols on the dashboard, and some of them might be confusing.

1 – BRAKE SYSTEM ALERT – your emergency brakes must be left on.

2- ENGINE MANAGEMENT – your engine need to be attended to.

3- BATTERY WARNING – your battery must be running weak.

4- GLOW PLUG (DIESEL) – your car is heating up before starting.

5- SLIP INDICATOR – the traction system must be left on.

6- LOW FUEL NOTIFICATION – you need to gas up!

7- Engine Start Indicator – you need to hold the brakes. (to start the car)

8- Temperature Warning – your engine is too hot!

9- Hazard Warning Lights – your hazard lights are on.

10- Rear Window Defrost – the car’s temperature control is set to defrost.

11- Front Airbag – There could be something wrong with your car’s airbag system.

12- Tire Pressure – you need to check on your tires!

13- Fog Lamp Indicator – your fog light is on.

14- Oil Pressure Warning – check on you oil. (you might need an oil change)

15- Anti-Lock Break System – there must be something wrong with your anti-lock break system.

16- Seat Belt Reminder – put on your seat belt!
