49-Year-Old Barangay Tanod Dies After Accidentally Swallowing Live Fish
BARANGAY TANOD – A Barangay Tanod died after he accidentally swallowed a live tilapia fish.
Surely there are millions of things out there that can kill us very easily. It could be a car crash, tetanus, shark attacks, or electrocution among others.
Among the most common cause of death is choking, therefore, we should be aware of the food or objects that we put into our mouth.
Most of the victims of this unintentional injury are the toddlers and the elderly since they don’t have enough force or air to release the stuck object.
There was a terrible incident that happened recently at Bugasong, Antique Province on Sunday, June 30.
Based on a report from Coconuts, Barangay Tanod Roger Marcelino died after he accidentally swallowed a live Tilapia fish.
Around 6 am, the 49-year-old man was fishing at the Paliwan River with his son.
The man’s 11-year-old son said he did not saw the incident since he was posted far away from his father.
According to the report, the Barangay Tanod’s wife said her husband usually place the fish he catches in his mouth. He does that so it won’t go away while he’s catching more fish.
Marcelino’s wife said her husband probably accidentally swallowed the tilapia fish. She only found out what happened after her husband walked into their house and ask for help.
Both of them tried to remove the fish that’s stuck in his throat but failed so they called for rescuers.
Based on the report, when the rescuers arrived at their house, the man was already weak and fainted.
The Tanod was brought to the Bugsaong Medicare hospital which is about 2 kilometers away from their house but was declared dead on arrival.
