Skin aging, is a very difficult phenomena to stop, but several healthy ways have been developed to prevent or slow down its process.
Gradual appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be annoying to some people.
Here are some simple ways to prevent skin aging:
PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE SUN
One of the biggest factors that contribute to skin aging is the sun’s heat and radiation. So it is advised to wear protective clothing, and put sunscreen on the parts of your skin that are exposed to the sun. Also, seek shade to minimize your exposure to the sun’s heat.
QUIT SMOKING
Smoking increases the rate of the speed of skin aging processes. It also ruins your complexion and causes wrinkles to appear faster.
AVOID DOING THE SAME FACIAL EXPRESSIONS
Making facial expressions involve contracting certain facial muscles and causes some parts of the skin to fold/crease and form a line. Repetitive creasing will later on result to permanent lines.
AVOID DRINKING ALCOHOL
Drinking alcoholic beverages dehydrates the skin and causes stress – which then causes more serious damages in the long run.
AVOID USING PRODUCTS THAT STING OR BURN THE SKIN
If using a product causes burning or stinging sensation, it means the skin is irritated. Irritating the skin damages it and dries the layers making us look older.
(Note: It is a false myth that ‘burning sensation’ is a good sign in skin care)
