The Korean Boy Band Just Got A Guinness Title For The Best-selling Album
BTS – The popular Korean Boy band, BTS, just achieved another milestone in their group’s career after receiving award from Guinness World Records.
The Korean boy band ‘Bangtan Boys’ or BTS has gained fame and established a pretty solid fanbase called the ‘BTS ARMY’ with members from different parts of the world. They were also the first Korean act to top UK Charts.
After celebrating their 6th anniversary, the group would probably be celebrating again with their latest achievement.
The boy band just broke the record from the Guinness World Records for the “best-selling album” in South Korea.
Their recently-released album called “Map of the Soul: Persona” sold over 3 million copies in South Korea based on May 2019 records. They sold 3,399,302 copies breaking the record.
Guinness World Records made the official announcement.
Their album released last April broke the record just after one month.
The previous record was taken by the Artist Kim Gun-mo – a South Korean artist back in 1995. Gun-mo’s third studio album called “Mis-Encounter” sold 3.3 million copies in the country.
Another record that the boy band took was the “Most Viewed Youtube Video within 24 hours”. This was after their song ‘Boy with Luv’ became a great hit and got 74.6 million views in just a day.
Before they broke the record, Guiness revealed that the boy band broke their own record for the most viewed video on YouTube within a day which they previously set with hit single “IDOL” that got over 45 million views in one day.
This is according to an article from GMA News.
Other world records that the group achieved were the “most Twitter and engagements” title and most Twitter engagements for a band/musical group.
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
