There have been numerous reports of animals being caught up in human traps in the past. If not with traps, some people actually try to hurt animals intentionally for amusement.

In a separate report, an alligator was spotted with a knife lodged to its skull.

Meanwhile, at the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Western coast of Italy, a mother sperm whale was found dead with its baby entangled in a fishing net.

An Italian environmental group reported the incident last Thursday.

The Italian Coast Guard also responded to area after being notified of the incident and made inferences that the mother whale – about 6 meters or almost 20 feet long lost its life in an attempt to free its baby from the net.

The two were found 8 miles away from the coast of Palmarola Island in Lazio. While the baby was entirely covered by the fishing net, parts of the net were found in the mother whale’s mouth. The Marevivo group reported.

Rosalba Giugni – president of Marevivo expressed their emotions towards the loss of the mammals in a statement:

“The death of these two giants of the sea is a loss for our natural heritage, but knowing that what happened is our fault makes it even more tragic.”

She also mentioned about making changes to avoid hurting the environment, saying:

“Changing our behavior is not enough. We need to change our beliefs in order to understand and to actually feel that when we harm the environment, we do it to ourselves.”

This is according to an article from The Public’s Radio.

Prior to this incident, an 8-meter pregnant sperm whale was also found dead last March on a Sardinian beach with 22 kilograms of plastic found in its belly.

Global environmentalists agree that plastic is one of the biggest threats to marine life. Adding that the material is responsible for so many deaths in the ocean over the years.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
