A Passenger In Ninoy Aquino International Airport Was Apprehended For Carrying A Hand Grenade
HAND GRENADE – A passenger at Ninoy Aquino International Airport was arrested by airport security and officials for carrying a hand grenade.
Just recently, another tragic incident could’ve happened. Luckily, it was intercepted by the airport authorities in NAIA terminal. Had it passed through security measures, the attempt could’ve claimed many lives and cause huge damages.
Last Friday afternoon, a fragmentation grenade was seized by the airport authorities from a supposed airline passenger.
On Super Radyo dzBB last Saturday, Mao dela Cruz of GMA News revealed the suspect’s name. The suspect was identified as Deogracias Polmano.
After the arrest, the authorities reported the incident to the local police to be alerted of the possible threat. An investigation was conducted right after the report.
The local police officials and personnel then took the matter and initiated a thorough investigation.
Upon the investigation, the police revealed that the suspect Polmano was at the screening section of the Terminal 2 South Wing Departure Area by 5:30pm on Friday. That is when a NAIA personnel discovered an MK2 hand grenade inside his backpack.
The airport officials detained the suspect for not being able to provide the necessary documents to legally carry a hand grenade.
This is according to an article from MSN News.
Pomano is convicted with a heavy criminal offense.
He was charged several cases for violating the Illegal Possesion of Explosives law or Republic Act No. 9156. He is currently detained at Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Police Security Group headquarters.
Passenger safety and convenience has always been the top priority of most airports. Although the recent incident caused some trouble and panic, it safe to assume that airport officials take tight security measures to ensure overall safety.
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
