The beautiful Boracay was recently closed for rehabilitation after the environmental problems bottled up and caused severe damages to the island. Here’s Boracay Island new appearance after the few weeks of rehabilitation.

Cawaling was dismissed back in April by the order of the Ombudsman’s Office after facing charges of “graft, gross neglect of duty, grave misconduct, conduct unbecoming of a public official and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service” with regards to the recently reported environmental issues in Boracay Island.

Mayor Cawaling became the subject of President Duterte’s anger. President Duterte also said that the Boracay Island has now turned into a ‘cesspool’.

In the results of the recent local elections, Cawaling was declared winner against Yap.

Specifically: Mayor Ciceron Cawaling gained 16,277 total votes winning against former Mayor John Yap who gained 12,260 votes and Rodgiet Ranara who gained 1,200 votes.

Cawaling ran under the Nacionalista Party and Yap ran under Nationalist People’s Coalition. Ranara, on the other hand, ran as an independent candidate.

Cawaling was accompanied by his running mate, Frolibar Bautista, who also won as Vice Mayor.

The Department of Interior and Local Government released an order for Cawaling’s dismissal on April 24. This was a few hours after he showed up for his duty after a preventive suspension that lasted six months.

This is based on an article from Philstar.

Dismissed with him, was the licensing officer III for Malay, Jen Salsona.

The newly elected mayor’s camp also vowed to appeal to the Supreme Court and denied the charges.

His executive assistant also released a statement:

“With his reelection, it only shows that the people don’t believe the accusations thrown against him.”

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
