Ten People Were Arrested For Vote Buying Including A Teacher And A Government Employee
TEACHER INVOLVED – A teacher, a government employee and eight other people were arrested for their involvement in vote buying in Cotabato province.
Vote buying is considered a criminal act and is punishable. If you ever witness and incident of vote buying, here are the guidelines on how to report them.
Recently, numerous individual decided to put a stop to this routinely done illegal activity and exposed vote buyers.
Meanwhile, in Tacurong City and another two towns in Cotabato, ten people, including a teacher and a government employee for vote buying in the area within May 10 to May 12.
Region 12 police director, Police Brigadier Gen. Eliseo Tam Rasco revealed that the incidents of vote buying were reported in the towns of Mlang and Kabacan in Cotabato. Also in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
Rasco also revealed that the arrest happened around 10 pm last Friday (May 10, 2019). Police apprehended Renato Toreja Jr, Sultan Kudarat provincial government’s driver and resident in Sultan Kudarat.
Jesse Ramillo, a tricycle driver from Barangay Poblacion was also arrested.
Toreja was arrested with alleged possession of vote buying paraphernalia including cash and a list of individuals’ names who allegedly received money in exchange for their votes.
Four other people were also arrested in Brgy. New Kalibo. The four suspects were identified: Mateo Cuarteros and Sonny Pasquin from Mlang. And Joel Bolero and Christine Esparagoza from Carmen Town.

Police claimed that they were distributing the cash to registered voters in New Kalibo.
After the apprehension, suspected vote buying instruments including a total amount of P200,660 cash was seized from them and a list of names of receivers for the cash.
While in Brgy. Paatan, Kabacan, local police authorities apprehended three individuals identified: Artemio Alipada,Wilfredo Costez, and Arturo Seduco for suspected violation of the vote buying law by distributing rice to people.
12 sacks of rice and a tricycle from the suspects.
Last Sunday night, Janjee Porras form Koronadal was also caught distributing cash to buy votes.
