MMDA Announced The Closure Of The Marcos Bridge For Reconstruction

MARCOS BRIDGE CLOSURE – Metro Manila Development Authority made the announcement yesterday about the bridge closure.

Marcos Bridge will be closed for reconstruction for 8 months starting 11pm on May 4, 2019.

Jojo Garcia, MMDA’s General Manager officially released the announcement during a press briefing yesterday (April 30 – Tuesday).

This is according to an article from Manila Bulletin.

According to Jojo Garcia, the first portion of the bridge to be closed is the Eastbound portion. He confirmed it in his statement:

“Starting Saturday, May 4 at 11 pm, we are going to close the eastbound portion of the Marcos Bridge until the next four months.”

The reconstruction of the Marcos bridge have been a lengthy delay since private contractors have been meaning to start the bridge reconstruction since last year.

An alternative route scheme was also presented by the MMDA for motorists.

Motorists driving to Antipolo could follow the westbound direction, while motorists going to Cubao from Quezon City could instead make use of the service road right in front of the SM Mall in Marikina.

Truck ban schedule would also be adjusted due to the closure. It will be shifted to another time slot from 6am to 10am instead of the regular 7am to 10am.

Here is the alternative route scheme:

Cubao Going To Antipolo

  • From Cubao, take Aurora Blvd. then A Boni Flyover, straight ahead Sumulong Highway to Antipolo
  • From Cubao, take Aurora Blvd. then right turn to Katipunan Ave, left turn to Boni Serrano and take FVR Road straight to Macapagal Bridge then Marcos Highway to Antipolo.
  • From Cubao, right turn to 15th Avenue, then left turn to Boni Serrano, take FVR Road straight to Macapagal Bridge then Marcos Highway to Antipolo.

Trucks from Cubao Going To Antipolo

  • From Cubao, take Aurora Blvd, then Right Turn to Katipunan Avenue and left turn to Boni Serrano then U-Turn to C-5 Road, straight to FVR road take Macapagal Bridge then Sumulong Highway to Antipolo.

Antipolo Going To Cubao

  • From Antipolo, take Sumulong Highway then A. Bonifacio Avenue straight ahead

Aurora Boulevard Going To Cubao

  • From Antipolo, take Marcos Highway and right turn to Fernando Ave, then take
  • Bonifacio Ave. straight ahead Aurora Blvd. to Cubao.
  • From Antipolo, take Marcos Highway then FVR Road, right turn to Katipunan Avenue, left turn to Aurora Blvd. straight ahead to Cubao
  • From Antipolo, Take Marcos Highway Then FVR Road straight ahead take Boni Serrano Ave., then right turn to 20th Ave., left turn to Aurora Blvd., to Cubao

Trucks From Antipolo Going To Cubao

  • From Antipolo, take Marcos Highway then FVR Road straight ahead, right turn to
  • Katipunan Ave., left turn to Aurora Blvd. straight ahead To Cubao

Closure of the bridge is estimated to affect the commute of at least 3000 motorists hourly.
