Luzon Grid Was Put On Yellow And Red Alert Status

LUZON GRID – The entire Luzon grid was declared by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or NCGP to be under yellow and red alert status due to inadequate reserve.

In the past few months, the Luzon grid has been on and off the red alert status. Just recently, (April 23, 2019) the Luzon grid was placed under red and yellow alert following the strong earthquake.

Luzon grid has been problematic regarding their power reserve. The power demand in the area exceeds the capacity and reserve.

Thus putting them under the category yellow and red alert status.

This is based on the Facebook post of Philippine News Agency.

The area also lost a total of 2,489 Megawatts of electricity recently. The decrease is due to maintenance, random outages and reduction of power capacity of several power plants.

As of the moment, DOE is working on possible resolutions for the power capacity issue.

Authorities are looking forward to resolving the Luzon power situation.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
