The Recent Discovery Of Unknown Human Species Was Led By A UP Professor
UP PROFESSOR- In a previous report, it was stated that the remains of unknown species of humans were lifted from the dirts of Callao Cave led by a Filipino Archaeologist and UP Professor.
‘Homo Luzonensis’, according to Nature, is a distant ancient relative of Homo Sapiens but not a direct ancestor. The species reportedly lived 50,000-67000 years ago in Luzon.
The Filipino archaeologist and UP Professor, Armand Salvador Mijares, had a historical find at the cave from Luzon after two years of research.
According to an article from Philstar, Armand led the multinational team of researcher towards the discovery of Homo Luzonensis but this was not the only time he made a world class discovery.
Armand also lead a multinational team of researchers, in the past, towards the discovery of the earliest fossil evidence of homos in Luzon. This was way back in 2007, 12 years ago!
According to him, his archaeological quest began in 2003 also in Callao Cave where he unearthed 25,000 year old evidence of human activity.The Filipino archaeologist and National Geographic grantee also specializes in the following:
- lithic analysis,
- ceramic petrology,
- soil micromorphology,
- early human migration and,
- Palaeolithic Archaeology.
