Flooded Iran Will Not Get Financial Support From Abroad Due To US Sanctions

Iran Have Recently Been Sanctioned By The United States

IRAN – Heavy rain has left the country of Iran with a flood leaving at least 70 people dead and submerging 1900 communities.

Mike Pompeo, U.S. Secretary of the state, said that Washington was ready and able to help through Red Crescent and Red Cross but also accused the Shia clerical establishment of Iran of “mismanagement in urban planning and in emergency preparedness.”

No financial assistance from abroad has been given to the Iranian Red Crescent Society. However, it is said in an article from Manila Bulletin that the group received non-financial help and has delivered it to the flood victims.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a global humanitarian network of 80 million people that helps those facing disaster, conflict and health and social problems.

It consists of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the 191 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. This is based on the official website of ICRC.

Last week, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said that US sanctions were brought back after Washington backed out of a 2015 deal between Iran and six world powers.

Mohammad Javad Zarif also posted tweet recently saying:

“Blocked equipment includes relief choppers: This isn’t just economic warfare…”

The disastrous flood has left local agencies struggling with difficulty with 86,000 people being moved to emergency shelters.

The government has released a statement to the locals and the flood victims, that all losses will be compensated.

The flooding was caused by heavy rainfall since March 19.

The Iranian government has made efforts to evacuate more towns and villages as they are threatened by the flood and continuing heavy rainfall.

That is all there is to if for now, we’ll post updates as soon as we get them.
