Seph Ubalde was physically and emotionally abused
He revealed in a video which he posted a few hours before he was found dead that he was clinically diagnosed with depression.
At the beginning of the video, Seph discussed that he is a functioning depressed person. He stressed out that he was not like among others who suffer from depression.
“I’d like to think that I have a very jolly outlook in life, I always smile, I have good friends, I laugh a lot, I make others laugh a lot also and as you can see, I am very well composed and confident,” Seph describe himself.
On the other hand, when times that he was alone, things are different. Deep inside, when he is all by himself, his facade crumbles.
This is also the time when the former anchor was grappling against his demons and monsters.
Seph Ubalde admitted he was not quite sure how and where his depression started.
He cited some factors that could have triggered his mental health issues. The columnist said that probably it was because of his upbringing.
Then, he revealed that it could also be because he was physically and emotionally abused by his father.
“I was his punching bag for a time. Maybe that… and I could blame him for that. But I don’t want to,” he said.
Seph also admitted that he was a victim of bullying when he was in elementary. Aside from this, he also said that there was a time when he has crisis in his identity and gender.
“I’m struggling with my identity and gender also. And I had no one, really, to validate me or to assure me that everything will be okay,” he shared.
