BISHOP PABILLO – This Lent, Bishop Pabillo encouraged all the devotees to take a break from using social media.

Filipino people are known to be very religious, they take time every Sunday to hear the word of God.

This Lenten season, devotees surely have something in mind to give something up to for a short period of time.

Some people wanted to go on vacation particularly the beach while some wanted to spend the Holy Week abstaining from meat, snacks or just about anything they wanted to refrain from.

Giving up on those certain vices are the devotees’ way of giving ample time to communicate with Jesus Christ.

Let’s all face it, it so hard to give up using social media because it’s where we receive the latest news and updates from our families and friend.

We frequently check our Facebook accounts, Instagram, or Twitter to see and know the latest about anything.

This Lenten season, a Filipino Bishop was announcing on the radio interview what he thought might be good for the believers to give up this Holy Week.

Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, Bishop Broderick Pabillo encourage all the Roman Catholic to have a break in using the social media during the Lenten season.

The bishop expressed that it could be one of the best form of sacrifice during the Holy Week. The devotees should reflect, pray or talk to someone who are sick instead of scrolling on their devices.

Instead of pagbabantay sa Facebook o sa TV, magdasal muna tayo o magbasa ng bible o makipag-usap sa isang may sakit,” said Bishop Pabillo.

According to the report, Bishop Broderick Pabillo also stated that giving up social media is a form of self-discipline.

“Iyang mga bagay ba na what you denied to yourself, you give to the others. Iyan yung mahalaga, i-connect natin yan,” said Pabillo.
