Songs of Michael Jackson are now banned after 2 men revealed 7 disturbing allegations
The songs of the late pop icon Michael Jackson are now banned from the radio stations in New Zealand and Canada after 2 men revealed 7 disturbing allegations against him.
Wade Robson and James Safechuck revealed in an HBO documentary Leaving Neverland that the late singer allegedly abused them.
They detailed what happened when they were boys and how they felt about it during that time.
After the documentary was aired last Sunday, radio stations in New Zealand and Canada banned his songs.
Based on the report from The Guardian, the state-owned RNZ said it applied “editorial judgment” to any music it played. Jackson’s songs are not currently featured.
Nine major commercial radio stations of MediaWorks confirmed that they pulled the songs of the pop icon from their playlist.
“Playlists change from week to week and right now Michael Jackson does not feature on them,” NZME director Dean Buchanan said.
At the time of writing, it is unclear until when the radio stations in New Zealand will ban the songs of Michael Jackson.
Meanwhile, three radio stations in Canada banned Jackson’s songs.
Montreal French-language stations CKOI and Rythme and the English-language The Beat banned the songs of the pop icon since Monday.
Spokeswoman for media company Cogeco Christine Dicaire said that their move, including the 23 smaller radio stations, was due to the reaction of the listeners after the documentary aired.
On the other hand, the BBC denied the reports that it has banned the songs of the late pop icon, based on the report.
