It will surely be a lot of fun and enjoyment not only for the Cebuanos but all the Filipino who attend the feast.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Visayas campaigned for the Plastic Free Sinulog. The government anticipated a lot of visitors to the city and the disposal of plastic waste should be observed.
The government agency wishes to protect the city and has announced on the social media that the public should observe practices that will protect the environment.
DENR posted several statements on their Facebook account. DENR Regional Executive Director Gilbert C. Gonzales suggested for the people to prefer the use of reusable utensils and containers to minimize waste and to bring only sufficient food.
“Scores of the uncollected and unsegregated wastes are left spread on the streets or in open lits, or find their way into and choke our rivers and esteros, posing risks to the health and safety of surrounding communities,” Gonzales added.
The DENR Director hoped for the people who are participating in Sinulog should also be responsible for their garbage.
