Miss Philippines or Miss Australia? Here’s the answer of Catriona Gray
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray answered the question if she is Miss Philippines or Miss Australia.
As Catriona represented that Philippines in the international pageant in Thailand last December, the fact cannot be denied that her father is Scottish who migrated in Australia.
She was raised in the said country before she came to the Philippines when she was a teenager.
After winning the crown, Australians claimed that she is from them.
However, Catriona Gray personally addressed this issue during the Miss Universe media week in New York, USA.
In an interview with the US show Build Series, the Bicolana beauty had a straight answer to whether she is Miss Philippines or Miss Australia.
“I really feel like I’m a Miss Philippines. I feel like a Filipina, a Filipino woman. It just so happens that when I was growing up, I was very much of an Australian. And I think you can be both because I did grow up with those two sides of the world. I just thought it was funny that there was this war, like, ‘no, she’s ours, she’s practically a Miss Australia.’ But I am a Miss Philippines.” she said.
However, she said that she can’t blame the Australians for being proud of her achievement.
“I can’t blame them for being excited, from really feeling the high spirits of the season, too. So we’ll let them have that,” the crowned Miss Universe said.
During the interview, she also showcased her beauty with a cause project, the one she mentioned in her final answer during the pageant.
