Eastern Visayas Residents Prepares For Usman, Travels Are Cancelled As It Draws Near

USMAN – Travels to Visayas are currently cancelled due to tropical depression “Usman”. Residents are currently preparing as it draws near.

The tropical depression is expected to make a landfall this Friday afternoon (December 28). Thus, travels going to Visayas are cancelled as of the moment.

That being said, the cancellation of travels made passengers stranded on ports. About 4,000 passengers were stranded on Matnog Port in Sorsogon. In Cebu, on the other hand, only 400 passengers were stranded on with travels going to Samar and Leyte cancelled.

100 passengers from Pasacao Port in Camarines Sur are also stranded with cancelled routes going to Cebu. Nasipit Port in Agusan del Norte also cancelled routes going to Manila.

According to ABS-CBN News, Biliran City paused sea travels due to a gale warning. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) also cancelled travels via FastCraft and RORO (Roll-On/Roll-Off) vessels from Bredco Port in Bacolod to Iloilo City

Travels from Batangas Port to Odiongan, Romblon, Caticlan, and Roxas are also cancelled.

As per the report, meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) in Baclaran, Leyte coordinated with the municipal disaster office and dispatched rescue boats in preparation for Usman. They also prepare for possible cases of flooding and landslides, says PDRMMO Biliran head Jun Dacillo.

Dacillo also advised people living in the mountains and near the sea and rivers to stay alert.

Imelda Borongan, a resident, planned on evacuating after losing her child in a landslide a year ago. Maricel Latagan, another resident, prepared her clothes in case the authorities orders them to evacuate.

The residents are currently preparing in case they are told to evacuate.
