MMFF 2018: Rainbow’s Sunset Gets Most Awards During Gabi Ng Parangal

And the MMFF 2018 big winner is…. Rainbow’s Sunset!

Rainbow’s Sunset got most of the awards during the recently-concluded MMFF 2018 Gabi ng Parangal.

The set movie tackled the sensitive topic about LGBT community. Heaven’s Best Entertainment produced the film and its director, Joel Lamangan, bagged the Best Director award.

Aside from the Best Picture award, Rainbow Sunset’s actors and actress also got the prestigious recognition.

Prominent actress Gloria Romero brought home the Best Actress award.

“This is the best Christmas gift. I did not expect that at my age, 85 years old, I would still win something like this,” she said.

Her leading man in the movie, veteran actor Eddie Garcia was given the
Special Jury Prize (for an actor). Max Collins was hailed as the
Special Jury Prize (for an actress).

For the supporting roles, Tony Mabesa got the Best Supporting Actor award while the Best Supporting Actress award is given to Aiko Melendez.

Rainbow’s Sunset also got the Best Screenplay award and this is given to Eric Ramos.

Other awards that the film received are Gatpuno J. Villegas Cultural Award, Best Original Theme Song for Sa’yo Na, and Best Production Design.

Meanwhile, the movie of Anne Curtis, Aurora, got the Second Best Picture Award. It also bagged the awards of Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design and Best Visual Effects.

Furthermore, Phoebe Villamor won the best child performer honor.

The Third Best Picture is given to Eric Quizon’s romantic film One Great Love featuring Kim Chiu, JC De Vera, and Dennis Trillo.

Dennis was hailed as the Best Actor while the film received the Best Musical Score trophy, based on Inquirer’s report.
