Group Says The Prices Of Cigarette Should Be Tripled In Order To Reduce Number Of Smokers
CIGARETTE – The Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) wanted the prices of cigarette to be tripled, this sparks reaction from social media.
A video in GMA News says that according to the group, the prices of cigarettes will cost up to ₱20 per stick. A 2015 survey shows that the number of youth with ages 13 up to 15 who are smokers are the highest in the Philippines.
Dr. Ulysses Dorotheo, the executive director of SEATCA, says that there was a survey that was done among the youth who said that they need the price to be at least ₱20 per stick and that won’t happen with a ₱2.50 per pack tax increase.
